Find x in the given figure. (The vertical chord is a diameter.) https://media.glynlyon.com/g_geo_2012/7/group185.gif

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

have a look at this page http://www.mathopenref.com/chordsintersecting.html

Give us the answers. And tell us what you think it is.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it doesn't have multiple choice it it just has a radical and i have to fill it in

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@boggley Did you read the article @jim_thompson5910 showed you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i did i get that if i multiply a by b it will always be = to c by d but in this one there are only 2 numbers im so lost lol @BraydonG

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

If a diameter is perpendicular to a chord, then the diameter bisects the chord. So that's how I'm getting that other x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so x=4?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

no

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

use the theorem on that page I posted

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhhh so its x=6?
