Why and how did Kennedy attempt to combat communism in Cuba?
Well he inherited the CIA operations that were going on down there. One of them was using the Mafia to assassinate Castro. Others involved sabotage operations against Castro. One of them was training Cuban exiles to invade Cuba. There is debate as to whether or not Kennedy ordered the invasion, but Kennedy cancelled the airstrikes that would have allowed the exiles to advance farther into Cuba and he basically condemned alot of those exiles to death and left the CIA out in the cold. Basically it's his fault the invasion failed. Some say that Castro was ready for them too. None of these covert operations against Castro were ever officially admitted until 1976 during the Church Committee. After the Bay of Pigs failure, the Russians began placing MRBM (medium range ballistic missiles) in Cuba to resist another invasion by the US. Kennedy ordered a naval blockade to stop any more missiles from coming in and he cut a deal with Kruschev in which the US removed missiles from Turkey and promised never to invade Cuba again, in exchange for the Russians taking the missiles out of Cuba. After that, they kind of gave up on it. Vietnam turned into the big issue in the White House after that. here is your answer read that @Awesome781 :) :)
