concrete can be purchased by the cubic yard. how much will it cost to pour a slab 11 feet by 11 feet by 3 inches for a patio if the concrete costs $63 per cubic yard?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well convert the measurements to yards... and then multiply them together to get the volume in cubic yards

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't quite understand how to convert them.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There are three feet in one yard.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 3 yards and 2 feet?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well leave them as improper fractions 3ft = 1 yard and 36 inches = 1 yard so its 11/3 x 11/3 x 3/36 = then multiply the answer by 63 to find the cost

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got $70.45?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well I got 70.58... so just check your calculations

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oooh. alright, yes, i got 70.58 as well! thank you :)
