Can someone help me with this homework question please? Two point charges each carrying a charge of + 4.5 E – 6 C are located 4.5 meters away from each other. How strong is the electrostatic force between the two points and is this force a repulsive force or an attractive force (k = 9.0 E9 Nm2/C2)? @zepdrix @texaschic101 @SolomonZelman @timo86m @wolfe8 @johnweldon1993 @iambatman @primeralph

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Well according to Coulombs Law we have \[\large F = k\frac{Q_1 \times Q_2}{d^2}\] You are given 'k' Q1 would be the charge of the first point charge Q2 would be the second and 'd' would be the distance between the 2

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

And for the 2nd equation...we have to know that "like charges" repel...while "opposite charges" Attract

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

"2nd question" not equation lol oops :)

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Make sense @Savannah_Noelle ?

OpenStudy (savannah_noelle):

Yes :)

OpenStudy (savannah_noelle):

Thank you

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Of course :)
