So we the people have money that we want to use to buy things in the future, so we look to save that money! But how do we do that? Well we lend it to businesses that need money. So really when you put money in a savings account, buy a stock, or a bond, you are funneling money to a company that is "borrowing" it. once the company has the money, they "invest" it by using it to grow their business.
