Simple art is easy to understand and most civilizations were illiterate.... Besides literacy, art is also very natural expression of human emotions and expression. People naturally are drawn to the beauty in art... Each culture develops an idea of beauty and elaborates upon this, being developing art. with it being a representation, it can easily describe anything from a direct approach or abstract and all in between.
