Find the equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

The points given are 1, -4 and 2, -8. The equation for slope is \[y _{2}-y _{1}/x _{2}-x _{1}\] Can you substitute in the points to find the slope?

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

@charina are you here?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@sleepyjess yes shawty

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Ok so can you substitute the points to find the slope?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

What did you get for the slope?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats what i got :/

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Yes so your equation is going to be y=mx where m is the slope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Same thing for this one. The points are 1, 5 and 2, 10. Substitute the values. Slope = m. y=mx+b. b = y-intercept. y-intercept=0
