(2x + 20) (2x +24) =672 How to solve for x? :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First foil (2x+20)(2x+24). What did you get?

OpenStudy (unbelievabledreams):

2x^2 + 48x + 40x + 800

OpenStudy (unbelievabledreams):

@ryan88 Am I right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Check your work, first and last numbers are wrong

OpenStudy (unbelievabledreams):

4x and 480

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4x^2, right. So if you simplify it You get 4x^2+88x+480 = 672. We need to get it in form so we can factor it, so lets subtract 672 from both sides That gives us 4x^2+88x-192. Now you can just factor that. What did you get?

OpenStudy (unbelievabledreams):

4( x + 24) (x-2)

OpenStudy (unbelievabledreams):

@Ryan88 this is right?
