You want to prepare a test that contains 20 questions worth 50 points overall. How many 2-point and 4-point questions can you include in the test? 5, 10 10, 10 12, 8 15, 5

can any one help me set up the equation?

@Jack1

OpenStudy (jack1):

heya so total number of questions = 20 X = number of 2 point questions Y = number of 4 point questions so X + Y = 20 questions ==> first equation

OpenStudy (jack1):

now, you also want 50 points overall so number of points = X times 2 (number of 2 point questions... times 2 = total number of points from the 2 point questions) + Y times 4 (number of 4 point questions... times 4 = total number of points from the 4 point questions) so 50points total = 2X + 4Y 50 = 2X + 4Y ==> 2nd equation

OpenStudy (jack1):

so rearrange equation 1 to read X = something then substitute the something into equation 2 then solve ;)

OpenStudy (jack1):

how did u go @littel_red ? makin sense, need help on any of it...?
