how do you solve 3x^2-36x=-40

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=2(9+ 51−−√ )3,2(9− 51−−√ )3 x≈10.760952285695,1.239047714305

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's not how I learned it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

one way is to put into graphing calculator and find the x-intercepts, if you want the written way, give me a minute or two xD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would like the written way I was taught to use x= -b+- the square root of b^2-4ac over 2a

OpenStudy (anonymous):

unfortunately i cant help with written :( but i can tell you that x=1.239 and x=10.761 i hope this helps a little...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the person was right with the answer, i just dont understand the work that well...
