in the belt drive mechanism, what happens when the belt is crossed instead of open?

Crossed means the pulleys will rotate in opposite directions. Open = same direction.

In a two pulley system, the belt can either drive the pulleys in the same direction, or the belt may be crossed, so that the direction of the shafts is opposite as @dudeu_07 Says !
