Need help studying solving porportions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hello

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hey, let me see if i can help a little :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

heres a question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

State whether the ratios form a proportion 1/4 and 2/5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well 1/4 is 5/20 and 2/5 is 8/20 i got this by multiplying the num and denom by 5.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in 1/4 but multiply by 4 in 2/5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but its saying yes or no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no they are not proportional, because 5/20 does not equal 8/20, so 1/4 and 2/5 are not proportional

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is easier to make the denominators equal to each other

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its like

OpenStudy (anonymous):

equivelent fractions?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not uderstanding sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like what is a porportion?
