He said in a recent interview that he regrets killing him off. Also I think the real reason he did it was because and I thinly quote was "Stories shouldn't be a perfect happy ending. Real life isnt like that." That kind of thing. The funny thing about tfios is that John actually wanted to write a "funny book" :L The wall humping video game with Issac and Hazel scene was pretty funny though.
