Given segment AB parallel to segment DC, segment BC parallel to segment AD, and the measure of angle ABC = 120 degrees, find the measure of angle 1.

OpenStudy (raden):

let the measure of angle 1 is x, therefore x + 34 = 120 solve for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OK that gives me 86 How do I solve for angle 2? @RadEn

OpenStudy (raden):

yeah, 86 is correct to get the measure of angle 2, see the fact that <ABC + < BCD = 180 (consecutive interior angles) 120 + <BCD = 180 obviously, we get <BCD = 120 now look at the diagram again, we knowed that <BCD = 120 and for angle BCD exactly equals to 20 + angle 2 so, we get an equation : 20+ <2 = 60 subtract by 20 on both side, get <2 = 60 - 20 <2 = 40 degrees
