Remember what it means to put something on the X-Y plane, or in other words, to put something on a graph, a point can be placed by moving along horizontally, in the "x" direction, it will move to the right if the number is positive, and to the left if the number is negative, the "y" coordinate is obtained by moving up vertically if you have a positive number, and downwards if you have a negative number, that means\[(-5,0)\]would be a point on the graph that is 5 units to the left, and zero units up or down, where as\[(-5,2)\]would be 5 units to the left, and 2 units up
