Well, look at the function. You see the term all the way to the left? The 5x^5? The type of function and degree is determined by the term with the highest degree term, which is the same as the variable with the highest power.

Since it's x^5, the function is QUINTIC. Quint- is a prefix meaning 5. Also, the degree of the polynomial will be 5.

About the zeroes...I'm not sure if it's wise to try and solve for the zeroes numerically and methodically. What I did was graph the function. I found that it only had 1 real zero.
