PLZ PLZ PLZ help me i give medal and I fan and i will do a testimonial Part B: Determine the value of F when C = 8 °C. (2 points) Part C: Solve –np – 80 > 60 for n. Show your work. (4 points)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

F = (9/5)C+32

OpenStudy (geekfromthefutur):

For c or b?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's for B

OpenStudy (geekfromthefutur):

ok thank you :3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For C, we have an inequality. We can solve it (almost) just like if there were an equation with a few things to keep in mind. Namely: If we multiply or divide by a negative number, we have to flip the inequality. Which makes sense, right? 2 < 5 Multiply by -1 on both sides: -2 > -5 We had to flip the inequality to keep it true :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, what would be your first step to solve for n?

OpenStudy (geekfromthefutur):

um.. im not quit sure im not very good at math >.<

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-np-60 = 80 Can you solve that for n?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay I am here.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What do you need help with again?

OpenStudy (geekfromthefutur):

were doing part c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k first part:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-np -80 >60

OpenStudy (geekfromthefutur):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1. Add 80 to both sides.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2. -np-80+80 >60+80

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3. -np>140

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4. divide by -p on both sides.

OpenStudy (geekfromthefutur):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5. -np/-p>140/p

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6. n<140/p

OpenStudy (geekfromthefutur):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That is all.

OpenStudy (geekfromthefutur):

oh ok thank you soooo much you are a life saver! :3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let me just make sure I did it right

OpenStudy (geekfromthefutur):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hey @satellite73 does this look right???? I am pretty sure that I did it right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or @zepdrix

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Dropped a negative sign. You divided by -p on one side, and only p on the other. Other than that, I think it's right on the money :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay I see that. So on step 5. you need to dive both by a negative p

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hardest thing in mathematics: Keeping track of your signs. :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know. I have a hard time with that especially in calculus

OpenStudy (anonymous):

K so @geekfromthefutur the sign change in step #5 will change the answer a little but. i messed up a little bit on that.

OpenStudy (geekfromthefutur):

not really

OpenStudy (geekfromthefutur):

wat would it be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The answer is still correct because you flipped the inequality anyways in step 6 I believe

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh okay so the answer is still correct I just messed up the signs on that one step. Haha. it is late.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

While the answer is true, it isn't correct. Being less than a negative is a more strict bound than being less than a positive.

OpenStudy (geekfromthefutur):

ok so which one would need to be fixed

OpenStudy (anonymous):

When you divided the left side by -p You need to also divide the right side by -p

OpenStudy (geekfromthefutur):

ok i get it now but can u guys rewrite it for me cuse im scared that i may do somrthing wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah my bad I was wrong. You can also solve it alternately (with more work) -np > 140 -np + np > 140 + np 0 > 140 + np 0-140 > 140 - 140 + np -140 > np -140/p > n

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep that is right. :)

OpenStudy (geekfromthefutur):

ok so all i do is copy that and done?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes. Do you understand it?

OpenStudy (geekfromthefutur):

yea dude thank you guys so much iv been on this thing for 7 hrs

OpenStudy (geekfromthefutur):

you guys are awesome

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Haha. I know the feeling.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's just to show that it works, you shouldn't do the method I showed on a test because it wastes a lot of time. What the other guy meant was to do -np > 140 -np/-p < 140/-p n < - 140/p which is much faster once you get the hang of it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am a girl. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That is what I meant to do. haha. :) Thanks @DoritosHero

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah I meant vandreigan when he was talking about the negatives xD

OpenStudy (geekfromthefutur):

oh lol yea im on my bros account im a girl as well lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh okay. :) I didn't know who you were talking about. haha

OpenStudy (geekfromthefutur):

haha well im gonna go to bed its 12:48 here and i got toget up early tomorrow :s

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wow it is only 10:50 where I am.

OpenStudy (geekfromthefutur):

lol lucky well night guys thanks again for the help :3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yea goodnight guys/gals good luck with school
