Why did Parliament believe the colonists would accept the Tea Act of 1773? Revenues raised by this act would go toward paying royal governors’ salaries. This act repealed the offensive Townshend Duties that taxed all imports. The revenues raised by this act would go toward the defense of the colonies. The colonial assemblies would collect the revenues raised by this act. This act substantially lowered the price of tea sold in the colonies.
