Which of the following best compares the results of mitosis and meiosis?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What are the possible choices?

mitosis is cellular copying, resulting in identical cells (if we ignore mutation). The two daughter cells have identical genomes to each other and with their mother cell, and have the same copy number. Meiosis is done for sexual reproduction. There are crossing over events and independent assortment, which means the daughter cells can be completely new genotypes. Meiosis results in cells that have half the copy number as the mother cell.
