Which nation moved into Manchuria in the 1930s, resulting in the development of Manchukuo and a pact with Germany?

OpenStudy (wwhitlock):

Hmm, pact with Germany in the 1930s. So its going to be a country aligned with the Axis in WWII. Manchuria is northern China. So it wouldn't be China. They are the ones getting moved in on. Could be the Soviet Union. They stretched all the way to the Pacific and were just north of Manchuria. But, the were allied with the US and UK against Germany in WWII, Korea is right there. What about them. No they were part of the Japanese Empire in 1930 along with most every thing else around. So, what country could invade Manchuria that aligned with Germany in WWII. Hint: it's not Italy.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That'd be Japan. They faked an explosion near one of their railway lines in the area (the Mukden Incident) to use as a pretext for invasion. They blamed Chinese dissidents for the sabotage and launched the invasion as a result...almost mirroring what Nazi Germany did to stage their own invasion of Poland with a fake attack on a radio station.

OpenStudy (wwhitlock):

What a coincidence that Poland and Germany were invaded under false pretense. That's kinda like almost every war ever. Good answer @Captain_Page_Turner
