Help with expression!

geerky42 (geerky42):

:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

–12 + 9 – (–3) – 11

geerky42 (geerky42):

Not really equation, it's called expression.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Your solving right?? Ok well do you know you rules for adding and subtracting negitive numbers?? :))

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oops, (i changed the question)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Umm, rules for adding an subtracting?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I didnt know there were rules!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well when you add and subtract negitive there are rules! ;))

geerky42 (geerky42):

well, small rules, yeah. if you subtract negative number, it will be like adding number for example: 2 - (-1) = 2 + 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh, well i guess I dont know them.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yup what geerky42 just said can be rembered by SAO (Same Add Opposite) So... 3-(-1)=3+1=4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohh, well ok.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, what do you think the equation would equal?? ;))

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so, –12 + 9 – (–3) – 11= -17?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1399596176577:dw| Ok how about we break it down! What does this equal???
