Please go back to the source of this problem and double-check that you have copied the problem down correctly. What operation happens between f and g in (f g)(x)? Unclear.

f(x) = 6x + 14, g(x) = 5x - 1 Find (f g)(x).

I just did a problem like this. You want to use substitution.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do I SUBSTITUTE

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Again I ask you to look at your (f g)(x). What is the relationship between f and g? Is it a sum?: a difference? a product? a quotient? is g the input to f? We cannot solve your math problem until you identify what operation is called for.

OpenStudy (mathmale):

If your original problem reads 'fg" then you can assume it's multiplication. But 'f g' is meaningless.
