OK I know this has nothing to do with open study but I need somewhere to ask, You see, I got into a high school that only takes 100 students per year and Saturday is the day when were all going to meet and talk about the school year in front of us and meet the rest of our graduating class. Can some one tell me how it's going to be? Like, I'm really nervous, I'm going to be meeting all of the other freshman there and I have no idea what to wear or how to act. Help me guys! ;-;

OpenStudy (cydney_morgan):

Also, I've never been to a public school before, so theres that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, i havent been to a public school since i was in 1st grade, so idk what to expect. Im sorry but i dont know. If you want i can help you with your outfit though XD lol

OpenStudy (cydney_morgan):

lol xD Please? I want to wear a cute floral dress with a little denim jacket, but I don't know if it will be to much because everyone else just wears skinny jeans with tight little shirts..

OpenStudy (cydney_morgan):

And there is nothing wrong with that, but its not my style.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah just wear whatever you feel comfortable in and whats your style. But you should probably just PM me from here on about your outfit. And close the question because its not exactly school related. :)

OpenStudy (aravindg):

Well I can help on that. I graduated from a public school last year. Frankly, the first day everyone feels nervous. Don't get too cautious! Wear a nice dress. When you meet new people smile at them. Try to talk to some students and find out their names and where they come from. Don't get upset if you couldn't make friends on the first day. You got a year ahead! Be nice and everything should work fine.

OpenStudy (aravindg):

Let me know if you need more advice.

OpenStudy (cydney_morgan):

Thanks so so so much, I just don't know if high school is going to be stereo typical like the movies, or if its just going to be, well, normal. I have no clue!

OpenStudy (zale101):

High school is normal. Movies love inventing drama or conflicts that are rarely shown in real life. Trust me, you won't be the only one panicking about it. When students whom are home schooled and never got a chance to meet each other may develop a nervous impression to one another. I was home schooled in high school and graduated along with many students. Yes i was nervous and i could tell other students were nervous as well.

OpenStudy (cydney_morgan):

Really?

OpenStudy (aravindg):

Life is a bit more complex than in movies. Well the idea can be somewhat same but it is no close to perfection. Trust me it will be normal. After a few days, you will be loving it as much as being at home. I used to call my school my "2nd home",the friends I got "my family". I would like to add that there can be mean people. It is better to stay away from them and be with the good ones that you share interests with.

OpenStudy (zale101):

As what to wear, a nice simple dress you're comfortable with is ok :)

OpenStudy (cydney_morgan):

Wow, thank you guys a lot! I was really nervous, but I think I will be ok! I guess I just have to remember to be confident and remember that everyone feels the same way I do. Easier said than done.. but I'll manage.. wish me luck! <3 <3

OpenStudy (aravindg):

Good luck with everything. Enjoy your time at high school. The memories from there you will treasure forever! :)

OpenStudy (nikato):

I think your floral dress with a denim jacket sounds is a good choice. It's formal yet casual

OpenStudy (cydney_morgan):

Thanks so much, Silly as it is, The outfit was the thing I was dreading most. Thank you thank you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I've been in public school my whole life, just be yourself honestly, like AravindG said, everyone is nervous on the first day. You don't have to wear a nice dress or anything but eh it's first day of school everyone is buying new clothes and stoof. Anyways, be yourself, be nice to others and your experience will be good. Remember high school is in a way a big change, it's sort of a new frontier as a person, you'll go through a lot of changes, but don't let anything let you down. Also, go to class and pay attention...you'll be surprised how HELPFUL it will be, trust me.... I personally, I never went to class, which I really do regret to this day blah. Right, Batman not going to class? Haha, maybe I shouldn't have mentioned that but, I'm being honest. You'll definitely have fun though, attend class, and be nice to others. If you do these two simple things...woo you're set!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You are over reacting @Cydney_Morgan . it is just a high school

OpenStudy (cydney_morgan):

It's a big deal for me ;-;

OpenStudy (cydney_morgan):

I JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU FOR ALL OF THE ADVICE! I had to go today, and everything went just fine! There were not alot of students and it was a very small group, but everything went awesome. Thanks again :) <3 <3 xoxoxo
