You are suppose to convert the two fractions into the same common denominator or LCD (least common denominator). the LCD is 20. to get 20 you must multiple the 3/4 X 5 making it 15/20. and the 2/5 X 4 making it 8/20. once you have 8/20 and 15/20 you add them to get 23/20 which simplifies to 1 3/20.
