Ineffective Argument:
I love animals so much. I know that animals love humans, so why do people want to ban the ownership of pets? I don’t get it.

The first reason I should be able to own a pet is that I love animals. My family loves having a pet. Our dog is like a part of the family. My parents take care of her and take her to the doctor just like they do with me. My mom says, “I don’t know what I would do without little Josie!”

I think that people should own pets because they are helpful. My friend just told me about a neighbor whose pet parrot woke her up in the middle of the night when there was a fire. It saved her life. What a lucky person to own a parrot.

Honestly, what would we do without our pets?

This argumentative essay could use some work. The writer used a lot of opinions about why they believe other people should own pets. In order to make an effective argument the author should have given facts about why people need to own pets and how owning a pet could help them. This writer also used weak words instead of strong ones. Also, this person only used information from their perspective instead of from other sources that the audience is more likely to believe and agree with. Not to mention that the connection of ideas to the original augment was very weak. It leaves the audience lacking in sufficient information, reasoning, and inspiration. It does not encourage the formation or changing of an opinion.
