Find the probability of rolling a number greater than 2 and then rolling a multiple of 3 when a number cube is rolled twice.

OpenStudy (nipunmalhotra93):

4/6 * 2/6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats 2/9

OpenStudy (sidsiddhartha):

dont just give the answer provide the explanation @nipunmalhotra93

OpenStudy (nipunmalhotra93):

The reason I wrote 4/6 * 2/6 and not 2/9 was to give the explanation :D . Anyways, elaborating it, probability= P(rolling a number greater than 2) * P(rolling a multiple of three). P(rolling >2)= 4/6 (as there are 4 favorable outcomes 3,4,5,6). P(multiple of 3)=2/6 (as there are 2 fav outcomes viz. 3 and 6)

:) yeah i know.. you could have jus flat out gave me the answer. and thanks for that. makes sense.
