mathslover (mathslover):

Hello @HelloGoodmorning - May I know what is your question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In the figure below, angle with arc1 and angle with arc2 are adjacent angles: Line AB is shown. Point C lies between points A and B and a ray extends from point C. Angle 1 is created by the ray and segment AC while angle 2 is created by the ray and segment CB. Write an indirect proof proving that the sum of angle with arc1 and angle with arc2 is 180°.

mathslover (mathslover):

Can you draw a diagram to make it easier for us to solve it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes I will give you the image

mathslover (mathslover):

Well, when it comes to proving this, it can be either just stated that as AB is a straight line, so the angle should be 180 degrees , that is \(\angle 1 + \angle 2\) = 180 degrees.

mathslover (mathslover):

But, here, I think, we need to prove it using the basics.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok so I was thinking because we have to assume pretty much the opposite of the statement

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you may need to write something using the equation you can mathslover

@mathslover

I just need help in how should I state this thats all I know i have to assume oppositely Reason logically to show the assumption leads to a contradiction of a known fact. Conclude the assumption is false, which in turn proves the conclusion is true.

Sorry, my net stopped working, and it may stop working soon! - Please refer this link, http://gwydir.demon.co.uk/jo/euclid/prop14.htm
