OpenStudy (beccab003):

Can someone please help answer this question. I have a biology exam tomorrow and I am not sure about a couple of things. Thanks!! What is the difference between hydrolysis and synthesis?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is an interesting question, A synthesis reaction is one of the most common types of chemical reactions. In a synthesis reaction two or more chemical species combine to form a more complex product. While a Hydrolysis is a chemical process in which a molecule of water is added to a substance. Sometimes this makes the molecule to split into two parts; one section can gain a hydrogen ion. Based on this can you tell the difference?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The difference is that a synthesis can occur between any chemical reactions. A hydrolysis occurs between a molecule of water and a substance. I'm about to log off, sorry.
