Well a good way to do this and also practice the distribution property, is to foil out all of them and see if it's equivalent to your function.

3*-2=-6 3+(-2)=1
The way I do it is looking at the end number. It is -6. then look at the middle x it's positive. So, what times what equals a -6 that when added equals positive one? 3 and -2. 3x-2=-6 and 3+-2=1.
