When completely factored, x^2 + x - 6 is equivalent to which of the following? A. (x + 1)(x – 6) B. (x + 3)(x – 2) C. (x + 6)(x – 1) D. (x – 3)(x – 2)

Well a good way to do this and also practice the distribution property, is to foil out all of them and see if it's equivalent to your function.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Would it be D..Or B.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Try it yourself

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B

OpenStudy (kkutie7):

(x-2)(x+3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3*-2=-6 3+(-2)=1

OpenStudy (kkutie7):

The way I do it is looking at the end number. It is -6. then look at the middle x it's positive. So, what times what equals a -6 that when added equals positive one? 3 and -2. 3x-2=-6 and 3+-2=1.
