Question

Suggestion - There should be a pop-up sound if there is any notification/message.

Why is it required?

Generally, OpenStudy remains open as a tab in my browser and I usually watch lectures and so, I don't get to know that someone has requested me to help and he is waiting for me to come and help. But, I don't even know that someone has tagged me or messaged me.

Even, I assume that this is the situation - not only for me but for many of the users who prefer to do additional work /studies on internet .

I would love to hear your feedback regarding this idea.

I feel like it would be good, but what if there is a mass tagger? I think there should be different sounds for each type of notification. That way you can learn if it seems like spam or if someone really needs you. If you know what I mean?

Interesting. But please don't include mods. We get notifications for every report in the site. :O

@AravindG - Yeah, I understand. And for that, there can be an option to disable/enable pop-up sound feature . Mods can disable that!

Actually I suggested this idea 2-3 years before. The admins gave a reply that voice and video type features is a big leap from the present condition and it will take extra time to implement things like that.

Would take longer time though. We have much more important things to look at like stabilizing the system, better mod tools, better signing up process and many other basic ideas pending.

I agree that the sound would be helpful, but as long as you check the open OpenStudy tab occasionally, you may see the blue owl turn orange, meaning that you got a notification.

Agreed, it is a great idea but there must be a button/option to toggle this feature on/off.

When you have a new notification, the owl turns orange from blue.
