The perimeter of a figure is the distance around the figure. The perimeter of the garden is 32 feet. The length of the garden is 12 feet. A. Using the formula P=2l + 2w, where l is length, w is width, and P is perimeter, write an algebraic equation to represent the width. B. Solve the equation using good algebraic transformations. C. What is the width of the garden? Remember to label your answer.
@texaschic101
32= 2(12)+2w
perimeter is just adding all the sides, so that is why you multiply length and width by 2. now they give you numbers to make an equation: \[32= 12x2+2w\]. now you just have to simplify with order of operations.
since you have to find the width , you would multiply your length giving you 24 .. 32= 24+2w subtract 24 from both sides 8=2w and im sure you know how to do the rest lol
what you do after is divide both sides by 2. this will give you one side of the width. this is also why this equation is a 2 step equation.
@mysangels can u label Part a b c
ok a. \[32=12x2+2w\] b. |dw:1399834968783:dw| c. the width is 4 ft.
