I have been stuck on this question for a while and would appreciate help. A ball is thrown upward from the top of a building. The function below shows the height of the ball above the ground, f(t), in feet, at different times (t) in seconds: f(t) = -16t2 + 34t + 80 The average rate of change of f(x) from x = 5 to x = 7 is _____.
Here is the graph
are you still here @Drewgarste
Yes
Is this differential calculus?
Algebra 1
Ok first of all did you mean the average rate of change of f(t) from t = 5 to t = 7?
Yes
Ok how do you find the slope between two points?
I set it up as f(7) - f(5)/7 - 5
That's correct just plug in f(7) and f(5), simplify, and u'll get ur answer
Correct me if i'm wrong, one second. @master50777
I got -446 - 150/2 = -521 That's obviously wrong I believe I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. @master50777
Divide both of the numbers by 2, not just -150
