I hope this is a Good Idea so here goes....Are you tired of People Posting question..And when you answer it they don't close,Even when you tell them to too.....We need a Power...A Administrator need to create a Power and give it to some Users Like me..I go into the History section and there are a lot of Threads from other days..We need Power to close other People questions when they're done..Hope this is a Good Idea :P

The only problem with giving regular users that power is, well they'd misuse it. I can understand the ambassadors having the "kick" ability to kick someone out of a subject. But otherwise, it wont happen. We specifically have moderators and ambassadors for reasons. You see misuse, report it. Moderators will deal with it.

It would take too much time to go through the thousands of users who come on here daily, to see which one should have "more power". It wouldn't really be fair either.

Well then I think Ambassadors should have the power to Kick Users from the chat box if they get really out of hand and Close and Delete questions..Is that Better Becca?

I don't mind basic clean-up powers for ambassadors, as long as they are logged for review by staffs. The abuse can also be reported by users and dealt with. The ambassadors who cannot handle the power would lose those powers and perhaps their title as well.

I consider an alternate route as well: give questions an expire time. Questions with no activity (messages, bumps) could automatically close over an amount of time. It also presents a pin power to keep specific topics marked from closing. The issue there is resources, but I can't comment there. I just think the power to pin may be more promoting than the power to close. Just some thoughts.

First point: Almost no-one bothers questions that remain open after being answered. An open question doesn't occupy more space than closed questions.

Second: You do however have some kinda point, something which I have suggested before to the admins: "Power differentiation"

You see this on many sites, several ranks with different abilities. For example
- admins (all power, including appointing different ranks to people)
- super moderators (the kind that can almost do everything combined (like current mods on OS))
- moderators (who can do everything but suspending/ banning)
- group mods (mod only a selected group)
- chat mods (who of course moderate the chat, this one is really necessary on OS)
- site sweepers (delete content, close questions)
- helpers (like ambassadors, recognize when things to awry and report)

I think it's a good idea to create more differentiation in moderation power as OS is expanding. It's almost impossible here for mods to do all this at once, especially the chat.
Unfortunately we have bigger priorities at the moment, like site stability, abuse (spam/trolls) and the messed up account registration system.
I would already be very happy with just the chat mods for now.
