PLEASEEE HELP Given a dilation with the origin O (0, 0), by observation determine the scale factor "K." DO, K = (5, 0) (15, 0) What is the scale factor K? A. 1/3 B. 3 C. -3

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

If you are going from (5,0) to (15,0) then you solve 5k = 15 for k to get your answer ------------------------------------------------------- If you are going from (15,0) to (5,0) then you solve 15k = 5 for k to get your answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So then it would be 3?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

that's if you start with (5,0) and end up with (15,0), yes

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

notice how (15,0) is 3 times further away from O(0,0) as compared to (5,0)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so then it would be -3 right?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

how are you getting -3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its going from 5,0 to 15,0 so it would just be 3?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh okay I see. Thank you so much!

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
