If you want to make sure you got your factoring correct try distributing it and see if it matches with your first expression.
Here (x-2)(x+5)= x² +3x -10 which is not correct.
Here's a way of doing it:
x² - 7x + 10 = x² - 2x - 5x + 10 = x(x-2) - 5(x-2) = (x-5)(x-2)
