hello, Phebe! Here you have two fractions with different denominators and need to combine them into one fraction. Suppose you were trying to add 1/3 and 1/4. See how the denominators are different? We'd find the LCD (lowest common denominator) by multiplying the 2 denominators together, obtaining 12. Thus, 12 is the lcd. Write out your sum:\[\frac{ 1 }{ 3 }+\frac{ 1 }{ 4 }\]
ok so wat do i do
Now multiply both numerator (1/3 + 1/4) by 12, and divide the whole thing (the whole result) by 12:\[\frac{ 12(\frac{ 1 }{ 3 }+\frac{ 1 }{ 4 } }{ 12 }\]
Can you simplify this? Hint: 12(1/3) = 4, and 12(1/4) = ??
thanx but i giot that answer
I'm glad you've gotten it. See you again!
