what is -3√54? simplify

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-3 sqrt 54 what times what equals 54?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

actually now that i look at it i think that is already simplified

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im just guessing but i did the square root of 54 first and got 7.348469228349534 the multiplied it by -3 and got -22.0454076850486 then put it in to a calculator that simplified it to a whole number and that number was -22. sorry if i got it wrong thats what i think it is this. but i also thought it was an equation so sorry about the answer if thats is not what your looking for

OpenStudy (earthcitizen):

not really. find the factors of 54 which are 3*3*6 yh ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The easiest way for me to figure these out are sort of like create a factor tree down from the number inside your radical, you would first need to find what divides out of 54 it would be much easier to draw it out for you, once you make the factor tree you pick out the set of numbers and put it in front of the radical so it can be multiplied by the -3, the single numbers left over get multiplied inside the radical

oh thats what he meant for an answer sorry i thought he wanted the equation solved and then the answer simplified sorry :P

OpenStudy (earthcitizen):

yup @ISleptWithSirens
