How many different arrangements can be made with the letters from the word SCHOOL

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is a permutation since in this case, arrangement of the letters and their order matters. would you agree?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

however, since there is repetition of the letter "o" in the word "school" you must take into account that pattern

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there is a formula for this! it goes: \[\frac{ n! }{ p! (q!)(r!) }\] where n=number of objects (in this case the number of letters in the word school) p, q, r, = number of repeating letters. q and r and unnecessary variables in this case and in others cases in which you may need them, more variables may be added. for now we will use 2=p because there are 2 "o"s in the word school

you can now very simply put this into your calculator by using the ALPHA + Y= buttons and selecting 1. and then typing in your numbers. your factorial sign will come from ALPHA + WINDOW and selecting number 9
