Food express is running a special promotion in which customers can win a free gallon of milk with their food purchase if there is a star on their receipt. So far, 219 of the first 264 customers have not received a star on their receipts. What is the experimental probability of winning a free gallon of milk? Choices: A - 3/88 B - 15/88 C - 73/88 D - 1/78 I choose C because 219 / 3 = 73 and 264 / 3 = 88 = 73/88 The correct answer is B - 15/88 How do you get this?
well....I am not the best at this, but here it goes... experimental probability is : number of times the event occurs / total number of trials. number of times event (CAN) occur = 264 - 219 = 45 total number of trials = 264 45/264 reduces to 15/88
Ok. Thanks so much. I understand it now.
glad to help :)
