Which of the following is an example of a polar solvent? a. water b. benzene c. gasoline d. carbon tetrachloride

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Water is polar. Carbon tetrachloride is not polar. I'm not sure about the other two, but I'll confirm them in a minute.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Benzene isn't polar, since it's symmetrical. Gasoline is a sort of hydrocarbon, and hydrocarbons are nonpolar. So water would be your polar solvent. :)

ok thank you
