Polynomial Functions question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is a multi-part question, and I am going to post one part at a time. - 1. Esmeralda and Heinz are working to graph a polynomial function, f(x). Esmeralda says that the third-degree polynomial has four intercepts. Heinz argues that the function only crosses the x-axis three times. Is there a way for them both to be correct? Explain your answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a third degree polynomial has at most 3 zeros, which is the same as saying it can cross the x axis at most 3 times it cannot cross it four times

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mabe Esmeralda is counting the y-intercepts?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It says to find a way they could both be right
