I need help with Vertical Asymptotes :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would set each of the equations inside the () to 0 and solve for x to find the vertical asymptotes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3/-44?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's not asking me what they are, it's only asking me how many..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it appears as though the graph would have 2 vertical asymptotes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since you have two equations for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

See that's what I was thinking. Do all rational functions have at least one vertical asymptote?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, at least one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the number of vertical asymptotes depends on the number of lines you have... does that help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you have two lines in the function so there should be 2 asymptotes
