OpenStudy (timaashorty):

When solving measure of angles using the Law of Sines, it is sometimes possible to have an ambiguous case. Why does the ambiguous case arise? When might the ambiguous case occur?

hero (hero):

The ambiguous case arises because there are two angles for which the sine produces the same value. If the sum of that angle and the given angle of the triangle you are asked to solve is less than 180, then you will have two possible triangles with such properties.
