Given this graph plotting velocity versus time, estimate the acceleration of object A at points X and Y respectively.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A.) 0 meters/second2 and -1 meter/second2 B.) 0 meters/second2 and +1 meter/second2 C.) 5 meters/second2 and -2 meters/second2 D.) 9 meters/second2 and -1 meters/second2 E.) 0 meters/second2 and +3 meters/second2

OpenStudy (shamim):

wt do u think the slope at point X

OpenStudy (shamim):

i m giving u an attachment

OpenStudy (shamim):

OpenStudy (shamim):

slope is acceleration in velocity time graph

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why is the second one a -1? Is it because the line is negative?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh! So it's 0 and -1 because the angle was 0 in the tangent line and 3 at the bottom?

OpenStudy (shamim):

slope will b negative. if the angle is with negative X axis

OpenStudy (shamim):

acceleration is 0 . because slope at point X is 0

OpenStudy (shamim):

plz make clear ur question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you elaborate on why the slope is -1 on the bottom?

OpenStudy (shamim):

of course

OpenStudy (shamim):

c my attachment

OpenStudy (shamim):

anyway do u know slope of a velocity time graph is acceleration

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, well, I just learned that. Thank you for your assistance!

OpenStudy (shamim):

u r most welcome
