1. Which parts of the plant were responsible for changing the color of the flower? 2. How would you explain the movement of the food color? (You may need to reference the properties of water to answer this question) 3. How do you think having a polluted/dirty water source would effect the health of a tree in a forest?

1. The chromoplasts are responsible for the colours of the flower. I am not sure about the second one, and I really don't feel like writing an answer for the third.

Capillary action is important for moving water (and all of the things that are dissolved in it) around. It is defined as the movement of water within the spaces of a porous material due to the forces of adhesion, cohesion, and surface tension. Plants and trees couldn't thrive without capillary action. Plants put down roots into the soil which are capable of carrying water from the soil up into the plant. Water, which contains dissolved nutrients, gets inside the roots and starts climbing up the plant tissue. As water molecule ; starts climbing, it pulls along water molecule which, of course, is dragging water molecule , and so on. Xylem tissue absorbs the coloured water which is transported to all the parts of the plant by the phloem tissues. the process will be same for polluted water because plants can not make out b/w polluted or fresh water
