Help with algebra step by step? Solve the system of equations: 2x-3y=21 -6x+2y=7 Part 1) In order to use the elimination method for the x-terms, the x-terms must add to equal 0. Explain the steps you would take to solve the system by eliminating the x-terms. Part 2) In order to use the elimination method for the y-terms, the y-terms must add to equal 0. Explain the steps you would take to solve the system by eliminating the y-terms. Part 3) Find the values of x and y in the system. First, use the steps you wrote for Part 1 to eliminate the x-terms, then solve the equation for y.

Then it says: Show all of your work. Then substitute the solution you found for y into one of the original equations and solve for x. I just want help to see how to do this step by step because the system of equations is the thing I'm struggling most with in algebra. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Does it want you to solve each one individually? Cause that sucks... otherwise the easiest way is to solve the first for x and then plug in that new value in the second equation to get the value of y. Then use the y number value to find the x value... not sure what these two methods are though..

I think so... I'm really confused on how to do this. How would it look like to start solving for x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2x = 21+3y x = 21/2 + (3/2)y then put into eq #2 -6(21/2 + (3/2)y) +2y = 7 -7y-63=7 y=10 Then put y into eq#1 and solve for x
