BraydonG is right with "told", but in case you didn't know what "past emphatic tense" was, it's formed by adding a past tense verb to a present tense verb. Examples of past emphatic: He DID come to school today. DIDN'T he stay home? He DID not stay home today. See how "did" and "didn't", the past tense, are added to the present tense of the verb? The combo of past & present makes past emphatic.
