I don't know how to explain this, it's easy for me to do it intuitively. I'll try to explain.
The essence of the second sentence is: The owners = proud and foolish men
the other sentence is more complex. The "proud and foolish men" part of the second sentence can be inserted into the first to convey both ideas. Where should it go?
