So I have that "We-Care" virus, and it's showing up on my Programs list, but when I click Uninstall, it says there is no installation source. Need help !
Says, "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'W3iSliderCWAv4.1.24.3_20131002.msi' in the box below". I tried looking for it and it didn't show up anywhere. It tells me to verify the source exists and that I can access it, but I can't find it anywhere.
you can not uninstall a virus!
Even if you use an Anti-Virus program to clean it up there's no guarantee that it has been fully cleaned and removed from your system. You best bet is to rebuild your PC from scratch - reinstall the operating system, but before that try to low level format the hard disk(s), and once OS installed install a reliable anti-virus program before you start using the PC for anything.
Or just go back to a restore point, if you have made one, that way you save all of your files and applications and save countless hours trying to restore it all.
some viruses write to the hard disks boot sector which can only be cleaned by low level formatting or special programs. not sure if a restore point will work here but what will help if u do a full system restore from an older healthy backup...
If you're comfortable using regedit and the command line, viruses can usually be uninstalled and the MBR repaired without wiping your whole system. If you aren't, then you should try a good AV program or find someone who is comfortable mucking around in the registry.
See if there is a guide here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/ If you have trouble, ask in the forums there.
Actually, we-care.com is a browser hijacker, not a virus. Did you download anything that might have caused this? (like stuff from unofficial websites, torrents, etc...) What OS (operating system) are you using? If you are on a Windows computer, go to the control panel and uninstall the program there. I say to go to the control panel to uninstall the program, because a hijacker would not uninstall itself. If you can't uninstall the hijacker from the computer via the control panel, try searching for 'W3iSliderCWAv4.1.24.3_20131002.msi', and then delete it. You should be able to get rid of the we care .com hijacker. If you STILL CAN'T UNINSTALL the hijacker (for some odd reason), get FILEASSASSIN by malwarebytes. Try to find the file and the delete it with FILEASSASSIN.
