You always use F(x)=

Then I'm confused.. because on the quiz I'm taking.. none of of them have F(x). It asks for the function rule and it will say like y= or x= ....

You can substitute y for F(x), since all functions are relations. However you can't always substitute F(x) for y, since not all relations are functions.
